It's odd, I don't feel as if I am doing a lot of building, yet various builds are progressing, which is kind of strange. After the comments recently about the Wessex nose, as opposed to a Roman one, I have dug out the kit, and several others, to try and remember what I was doing and to see how far I had got. I have also decided to glue some more parts together for the Mirage 4000 project; more about that in its own thread. Some of that progress is due to ordering an F-14 canopy from Hannants on Thursday morning, because that was the day I got paid. It kinda helps a bit. So that arrived today, despite the Royal Mail app saying it was going to be delivered on Monday, even though it was sitting in the Edinburgh distribution centre, roughly thirty miles away! As I expected, it was delivered today, so the vac form canopy, the only one for the F-14 that Hannants stock, and probably the only one available, is now in a box in the loft, and the plastic one is in the model room waiting for me to get on with building the cockpit so I can test fit it.

I have not said much over the past week, not done much that is visible either. Most of what I have been doing is chasing ideas around in my head. I have received parts for my Wessex build. I also received an Airfix Wessex with the idea of converting it to an HU.5 which should be helped by my buying an Italeri HU.5 as parts for my "real" HC.2 so there are parts available to help convert the HC.2. It would be an interesting exercise, even though there is not a huge amount of BIG things to change.
I have also been thinking about the rear set of the Mirage 4000. I realized that rear cockpit I took from a Mirage 2000 was on top of the nose undercarriage bay, but in the 4000 the pilot does this. The consequence is that the back-seater is sitting too high, in fact the whole rear cockpit is too high and my revelation was that just because it sat that high in relation to the front cockpit in the 2000, there was no real need for it to do so in the 4000. So the saw will get an outing at the weekend. This also means that there is a very good chance that the F-14 canopy will work for the aircraft, especially as I intend to have the canopy mounted open.
