Quote from: Gondor on August 21, 2025, 10:25:34 AMI had a doctor's appointment late this afternoon. I have now been referred for tests to see if I have any latent aneurysms.

Better to find out ahead of time!
Are they checking the brain only or all of you?

Mainly my brain as far as I know

The thing is I am not ill, at least from that. There is a genetic disposition for aneurysms and one of the Scottish NHS trusts does precautionary scans of immediate relatives to see if they have any aneurysms. These can happen to anyone and never cause a problem, but because of the genetic disposition and the number of immediate relatives that have had one that burst, I am eligible to be checked to see if there are any lurking with the potential to blow.

I work on the basis that if I'm offered a test I take it. Better to be sure than sorry

Best of luck mate
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks for the explanation Gondor.

Not been doing much for a while. I have downloaded a new game, well more that I downloaded a different version of a game I used to play years ago. "Open TTD" is the name of the game, it could well be right up the street of several members. It's a version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe, so you get Mono Rail and Maglev trains in it as well as all the usual stuff. Not played it yet, just been getting it set up. Reading the instructions is a must though.
Modelling wise, I have soldered a few parts together, but it's been years since I last used my iron, and no it's no the kind you heat in a fire or flame! I am going to upgrade the iron I have though, as it's rather timid to braise to sections of brass tube together. That said, it took me until late Friday to decide to do any work with the brass, only to realize that I didn't know where my solder was, so out to the shops. Made a bit of a mess and then realized I had no braid to help remove any excess solder  :banghead: First thing on Saturday was to drive around the local area to try and find somewhere that sold braid, no chance.  :banghead: Ordered from Amazon so got that late Monday evening so no removal of excess solder that night. Tuesday night I managed to get everything cleaned up, corrected the angle of one part and then made a mess trying to add more solder to fix that part in place. That's when I decided to get a better soldering Iron. I will be on Amazon tonight to order the new Soldering Iron, with controller, the one I have just has a plug at the end and says 16W on the handle, where the one I have my eye on is 40W with a temperature control as well   I hope that it's Amazon that actually deliver the item as they did the braid as I know it will get to me on the specified day, or the day after where Everi who were delivering the GET BACK documentary, had been ordered on the Sunday for next day delivery, and was "out for delivery" on both Monday and Tuesday, then nothing heard until the Saturday when it was next "Out For Delivery" and was actually delivered! I really don't like Everi.
The cat has also been coming home more often. He does decide to sleep in some odd places though. In the bath and on the edge of the kitchen sink being the latest.

Oooooh Open TTD, you've gone down a rabbit hole there with all the various customisations you can download for a better/more RW feel to the game.

I realise that. I had a similar problem playing with Kerbal Space Program several years ago.

Off work today with my diverticulitis, Spot, the cat, has decided he wanted to be home today as well, so I have a cuddle buddy if I need a nap later.

Being home on payday is a bad combination. Two purchases this morning. One is the Mitsubishi F-2 Super Kai, the order is for the Ace Combat boxing, but that was the cheapest available, and I have spare decals to make it an operational machine anyway. The second is a sticker for my car, denoting that it is powered by an Improbability drive. Should get a chuckle or two from a few other drivers. Maybe I should look into personalised licence plates with a 42 in them  ;D

My new soldering Iron turned up early this evening, along with another roll of braid. I plan to work on the principle that I will buy a new roll of braid when I start the spare. I have also ordered from CPC a six-gang, switched extension bar to replace the four-gang bar I have on the end of my bench. This will mean that the above bench light, the two side lights, the Soldering Iron and the Mini Drill can stay permanently plugged into the block, and there will be a spare for anything else I may need to use.

Does it include usb ports as those are quite handy for some of the modelling tools now available ?

Not the one I ordered. I have USB ports at the back of the lamps I have at the sides of the modelling bench. One changes the optovisor I have, it will also charge my tablet, the other has a charging pad for my phone at present.
