Sabotage!

After assembling the heavy AA guns one of them vanished. Stolen? Eaten? Captured by enemy spy's? I don't know, but after an intensive search its gone. So I have to rebuild one with the §D printer as I do not have such a part in the spare part box.

I really hope that it is not the Carpet Monster. Just caught a spider, maybe it has stolen the AA gun and is secretly building something...

Maybe the spider is employed by the Carpet Monster to go places the later can't ?

Neither the Carpet Monster or another spider has been seen. And no other parts got missing....

So lets continue to assemble.

In the current German Navy, every "major" warship is a frigate. Because "frigate" does not sound as militaristic as for example "destroyer" or even "cruiser".

The latest ships, currently under construction, the F126 class has a size of 10.000 ts. This would have been a cruiser in WW2. And there were designs of even bigger "frigates".
Last April there was an April joke coming around with an picture of a USN CVN telling this will be the next "Flugdeckfregatte" - flight deck frigate - of the German Navy.

So..... lets build a "Flugdeckfregatte"

As I only have a LHA-1 Tarawa in my stocks, I will take this one as the basis. So it will only be a small "Flugdeckfregatte" of about 40.000 ts.
Plan is to modify the hull a bit, use a more modern "stealthy" island structure and upgrade everything a bit.

This is the kit I am using, the old 1/720 scale Revell one



This is in it, will not use so much besides hull and flight deck


And doing some experiments of modifying the hull. Boats will be located behind the three openings

I LOVE the idea of a 'Flight deck frigate'.

A Flugdeckfrigatte needs some aircraft. Found a nice, simple 3D model of the F35 whichI thought might be good to be printed in 1/700 scale.

And it worked out quite good.


A first placeholder for the new island. Size and shape is ok, now I can start to work on it and detail it.
