Too right! My eyes are improving in their long sight every year, so much so that I no longer need to wear my glasses to drive. RESULT!

Yeah, they told me that would happen to me.  It turned out to be lies, all lies I tell you.
Mine continues to get worse and my prescriptions stronger and my lenses thicker...

But you're only a youngster now Fred. You wait till you get to your 80s and see if you can see better for miles and MILES!  ;D

My eyesight is deteriorating at both ends of the spectrum, so I wear multi-focals ..... And have for almost 20 years, now!  :o

Which is extremely annoying as they were better than 20/20 when I was young.  :-\

I went to the eye doctor last week. He told me I had the beginnings of  cataracts last year, so I was concerned.

Yep, cataracts are slightly worse... but he said my visual acuity was so high that my vision was better than most people without cataracts. I've been wearing contacts for another condition and with them I can see 20/15-20/20 in each eye. Luckily, I don't need reading glasses.

I still clearly remember when I needed glasses for anything..the day before my 40th birthday.
I was painting a German tank commander and it was all good .
The next morning I couldn't focus on the figure..I was the last one in my family who needed glasses to read even tho I've needed sun glasses my entire life.
Now I just go to the 2 dollar ( pound stores ) for my glasses ...still don't need em for driving which is good

That is good.

Yeah, Mum used to use $2 shop glasses after her cataract surgery; that was all she needed.
And after the ops, she could see everything 'without a dirty yellow filter'...

Been wearing glasses since I was 5  :-\  Got the eye hospital tomorrow for various photos of the back of my eye's etc.

Had my annual Diabetic Retinopathy exam last week and got a phone call from them the day after saying that they couldn't get a good image and therefore could I go to a different hospital where they had a different, more sophisticated bit of kit. Needless I was a little worried, but I had the second examination today and almost instantly the specialist was able to confirm there was nothing wrong, just my prescription is now so strong the standard piece of kit can't focus and get a good image. So no Diabetic damage, in fact the eye is very healthy, just got sh*t vision

So, good news or less bad news, Chris?  I suspect the former.
