Nice one Geoff! looking very good.

What armaments are you hanging off the two of them then?

QuoteThese are great models. I have just found this site as I am trying to get an accurate 1154RAF model done but the Maintrack kit was a let down. Glad I'm not the only one!

I have original Hawker Siddeley plans with cross sections, and a bit of an obsession with this aircraft. But my modelling skills ossified a few years back. I have offered the plans to Whirlybird for their re-issue, but no response yet. Is anyone interested in these plans sometime (scanner currently kaput) ?

Comments on armament for 1154 can be found on SIG site harrier.hyperlinx.cz under prototypes.

History can be found at www.harrier.org.uk/history/history_p1154.htm

Cheers

Mike
I'd definitely be interested in those plans. Very interested; for more than just plastic modelling reasons.

Thanks,
Evan

Why Evan as a back up in case teh F-35B fails to meet expectations (or should i say when). Not saying it won't work just the capability won't be that much more than Harrier in VTOL ops.

For some reason Lockheed got very interested in the CVA-01 design for some exhibition going as far as borrowing the test model from the FAA museum. Your not involved with this are you Evan ?

Cheers

If I was, I could neither confirm nor deny.  As to why, I've got some CAD software that will take a scanned drawing and convert it to one that can be used for creating 3-D models.  I'm thinking it could be a good project for learning the software and enjoying my hobby.

Edit: Well, considering that Lockheed does tend to partner with certain shipyards, one does wonder.  I'd be much more suspicious if Northrop Grumman or General Dynamics borrowed it, they both own considerable ship-building capabilities.

Hi Geoff, a What If history article would be good, lets see how fertile that imagination can be ;)

Kick donkey models, Geoff.

Harrier, don't send scans to the Yanks. Before you know it they'll be selling us the 'latest' Lockheed-Martin P1154!    :P

Mind you, they'd probably work better than the F-35...

I don't mind the plans being used for 3D modelling, as long as I can get copies of the finished pics!

Scanner still knackered, but I can do a big PDF with notes in at work. But I won't put in the details of operating techniques, materials and model test results that would allow anyone to revive a 40 year old British fighter project. So British patriots need not fear. Anyway, after next week's defence cuts there will be no UK money to buy any planes, new or old, so the Americans can't sell it back.

Ain't that the truth! <_<

On second thoughts, sell the plans to the US for as much as you can.  B)

Thorvic wanted a pic of the twin Spey 1154RN. Hopefully I will have succeeded in posting it with this mail!

Note that most of the data on this pic is wrong - BS.100 was 36,000lb, Speys would be 18,000lb each. Performance M 2.1 ish

Dimensions are s. 36' 0'', l. 58' 6'', wing area 350 sq ft, fuel 1,850 imp gal. - page crease caused hazy bit (plus smudged copyright notice, but as I have a copy of the original it comes from maybe that is OK!)

Hope it helps Geoff

Hi Mike

Cheers for the 1154 drawing, could you confirm the dimensions so i can check the scale and compare with the Maintrack kit as it looks a little different and the wings certainly look longer and leaner than the kit versions.

Cheers

Well, this one would look a little different.  The Maintrack kit is the BS.100-powered version and this one has twin Spey's.

So hey, if the 1154 got into production, would it have taken the role as what the Harrier fills today or would it complement the Harrier?

A modernized version of the 1154 (ala GR.7/9) would be neat!

Very likly Tom. And its very likly that the Jaguar wouldnt have happened if the 1154 had made it in to service with the RAF.
I always hope for the best.
