Or 'We don't want them because they're in Navy Gray - ours must be in Army Green!' - the story of the early Amtracks... :banghead:

Why am I picturing a conversation between Kirk, Spock and Scotty?

That would be fun to watch! Have Bones hanging around to provide witty come backs to Spock.

Ah yes - Bones' Snark... always worth a watch.   ;D

Now THAT'S different! Not your usually 'twinned' aeroplane, but actually works quite well, and with a 4-man crew as well!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It does work, doesn't it
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Would it still fit on a carrier?

I can imagine an even more complicated than usual hinge arrangement so one fuselage folds upside down against the other...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Remembering how Fairey 'folded up' the Barracuda, the mind BOGGLES at how they would have done a Twin Firefly!  :o  :o

Steel Penguin

remove the centre pod and inverse V or W the centre wing, and then normal folds on the exteriors?

I find in interesting that were thinking this through as well.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

Nice looking.

In "reality" they'd probably have to lengthen the fuselages like the P-82 Twin Mustang, otherwise it'd be too short-coupled which would have negative effects on stability and
controllability. Something really different would be to shorten the wingspan and greatly increase the chord of the tailplane making it into a tandem wing aircraft.
;D
