Yeah but Kit, biplanes are basically monoplanes with what would be long-span high aspect ratio wings were they not stacked vertically 😉

I've got one too, still in its plastic bag. Not sure I'd ever build it though, after all, it's a BI-PLANE! :(

And might be worth a coin or two...

Now that's an interesting viewpoint... ;)

Has anyone converted a biplane into a single? (that's likely a Silly Question, right there, but it's Friday evening and my brain's a bit Fried...)

Many moons ago I converted a WW I era biplane into a parasol winged monoplane. I'm sure it's on here somewhere ? I need to check when I get back home

I actually did parasol and monoplane versions of the SE 5a

Er, yes Dave, I can see where you're coming from, but they still don't fit my definition of 'longer wings'. Plus there's all those WIRES and stuff to fit on too.

I've only ever built one biplane, the Audax conversion I did for my Dad's 80th birthday, and that's now on my sideboard to remind me not to be so silly to try and build another one!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

So, I take it that the Roden 1/72 Zeppelin Staaken R. IV is not an option then? It has VERY long wings which, as a bonus, are stacked on top of each other😉😂

Wasn't the Hurricane originally known as the Fury Monoplane?  I just have a vague recollection.

Certainly grew out of Fury Monoplane studies/proposals

I always think the Hurri looks more Hart than Fury (there was a one-off single seat Demon built, used for trials)..

Now there's a whif idea.

Too RIGHT!  :o

Neither is the Sikorsky Le Grand kit that I had until a few years ago, that needed about scale MILE of rigging!

Now there IS a Whiff idea for sure, if it wasn't for the rigging anyway.

And you guys have just given me an idea to cross-kit a Hurricane with either a Fury or Heart. Hurricane wing with Fury or Hart fuselage.

Airfix rag-wing Hurricane being the obvious donor of choice.
