There's a part started Academy one that is handier, because the Ventura Tempest I and Kora Annular Sabre conversions are geared to go with the Heller.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Maybe for Telford?  I just need to cast the relevant bits as I can't find the box with the correct castings.

Just found the relevant box of bits.  It turns out that the resin piece I have for the nose is too wide for the Academy, but perfect for the Heller.  As it happens, there was a part started one (cockpit in but unpainted and wings assembled) so that's been chopped.  The Academy will get an Eagle engine, so I'm not wasting anything.  Or it may just get Cat. E status.

Very nice work there

Built the Tempest prototype using somebodies conversion back in the day. This is the logical step from there.

That'll be the Ventura fuselage conversion.  It's rough but workable.  This was mine, Central Fighter Establishment.

I've cleaned up another, which will probably end up 2TAF.

Another good looking build. Love the look in camo.

This is the fuselage of the part started Heller Tempest that's getting the under fuselage scoop.

Cockpit all painted and I've added some tape seatbelts.  The Heller kit has a basic but reasonable cockpit.  I've done some weathering, minimal, with a quilting pencil to indicate some scuffing.

And with the new cowling in place.  It's a clone of the old LF Tempest I conversion, but like others, I've dropped the cowl for. Seafire 47 style scoop behind the spinner, so the cast exhausts had to go and were filled with superglue and baking soda.  I also had to do some surgery to the notch so it clears the wing and allows for fit.

The wing's already assembled, so once this is cleaned up, it'll go one.  I'm aiming to have some primer on by the end of the week.

Interesting. I look forward to seeing it later this year.

The filler applied earlier is now sanded back, so I could turn my attention to the scoop.

Needed some work to sort out an air bubble and the outing stop removed to fit the fuselage.  Once done, on it went and then filler time.

Once the filler is gone, I'll get the tailplanes on.  I'll need to start looking up 2TAF Tempest units next.  Sure I have the relevant Osprey volume.

Filler around the scoop is nigh on sorted and the tailplanes are now on with a skim of filler.  Get that sanded back later and wait for some dry weather to get a coat of primer on.

As a small side comment: an annular radiator (apparently inspired by the German Fw 190D-9) was tested, too:

Looks odd, but why not?
