You could always go Space:1899 and use one of the paper models available. Convert them to plastic:

I've got the AMT Akron too, and very nice it is too, just nowhere NEAR big enough. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

that is something that could change my mind about building big scale vehicles, it is very impressive. I would need to build more/substantial shelving though.  :o
