Squadron Leader Zactly-Trew spent his early military career in Japan, discussing military aviation with Captain Furashita.

Quote from: scooter on May 01, 2026, 03:45:35 AMRAF Luton is a satire account, Kit.

I figured that, but how many other people would think it had a basis in fact?

Anyone replying to RAF Luton with outrage, corrections, puzzlement gets quickly enlightened by their fans.

They should be in your good books Kit: literally EVERYTHING they post is "photographed from a Canberra", even if it's an upwards view of a submerged submarine or a close-up shot of Mars...

Hehehehe, sounds like my kind of operation. Isn't everything photographed from a Canberra anyway?  ;)

If it was a photo of Mars taken by a camera on board one of NASA's WB-57s it could be considered true.

Oh "photographed from a Canberra" has become Twitter-speak now. People say it ironically even in conversations that don't involve RAF Luton at all. Someone will post a dodgy pic, or a dodgy claim about a pic, and someone else will reply "photographed from a Canberra, presumably  " as a sly way of saying "this is bullsh*t"... ;D

Because one can be expected to defend whatever he had previously posted l checked Rohrbach online, not much to see but hey, one can always mention the warload of 1000 tons way down the page. Mistakes happen.

Anyhow. Here, the Saab jet predicted two decades before. ln this website itself. The interest comes from some blog I check from time to time. As you can see they THINK some people made it up and nobody could have thought anything like it before George Lucas had Photoshop invented or things like that. Just check the blog's own link. Oh yeah, they are a family! Suitably short and flat, too...

Umm, how many Canberras are there?  I only know the one in Oz. Unless they're referring to the cruiser?

They're referring to the high-flying Canberra PR.9, which has so many real photographic achievements to it's name that it's claimed tongue-in-cheek to have photographed everything ever.

One was photographing the Eifel Tower while flying over the Isle of Wight apparently.  ;)

But I must admit to being wholly biased toward Canberra PR9s, and XH131 in particular.  ;D
