Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Spotted these on clearance sale in Tesco's the other day. They're Mapad erasers again, but of a type I've not seen before. They're radially symetrical and about 52mm in diameter. Although the black and blue parts look different, they are actually exactly the same shape, just flipped over relative to each other which means you could have an "all clear" (well translucent blue) saucer if you wanted.

Stick some legs and a heat-ray on that peg on the bottom of them and they'd make ideal WotW Martian fighting machines! The other ovious use is as radomes for search radar. They'd be a pretty decent size for AWACS (if a bit thick) in 1/144th scale or a smaller unit in 1/72nd, say mounted under the belly of an aircraft or lowered from the ramp of a helo/Osprey.

Just been in Hobbycraft this morning, and they are selling clear(ish) plastic eggs for 50p (half price).

These are 'proper' plastic (looks glueable), screw together in the middle, have a flat base, and nothing annoying moulded on them (no trade marks, tiny moulding point on the tip). The idea is to fill them with Easter treats, but of course, you could use them for other things...

Dimensions are approx 140mm long by 90mm diameter.

Since this is an Easter thing, and Easter is now passed, I'd hurry up if you want some: they're not likely to be in stock for much longer.

Here they are on the website, but note they aren't available for home delivery: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/clear-fillable-egg-14cm/6563431000.html

I've long hankered after making one of Peter Elson's 'egg ships' but have always been frustrated by lack of a good starting shape, so I picked a couple up.

You could also make drop ships for Battletech with that shape as well.

Just in time for a "spacey" GB, The Works have got these cartoon-rocket-shaped pencil sharpeners in. Bit small to make a model on their own, but ideal for a Flash-Gordon-ish diorama, or as comedy missiles hung under something silly.

They're about 52mm high, and you can dismantle them easily to get the pencil sharpener out. Sadly, the hole in the sharpener is not central when it's fitted, but on the upside, it's still usable after you've taken it out. The nose is glued on, and there's something white in there, but I've not forced one off yet to see what it is. Your first instinct would be that it's an eraser, but there's no way to use it as such...

They come in orange and purple as well, but I chose the blue on the basis that it'll be the easiest to over-paint.

Price? a devastating £1 each or three-for-two. I now have six... Dan Dare display team?

You could also use them as an external rocket pod and have several around the rear of the main rocket body.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

They come with their own landing legs! What more can you ask for?

Use them as really-tiny-scale 1950s Lunar Exploration Rockets!

Zizacktly! I was going to suggest mounting them under Jet Girl's plane, but my plan for that model might not have enough ground clearance.

Of course, if you were into really big scale figure modelling... :o  :o  :-X

Off-topic (kinda): one year my dad, a keen gardener, decided to grow courgettes for the first time. Not being familiar with the type, he planted around eight, just in case some failed. However none did and courgette plants are VERY prolific. Soon he was presenting mum with ever-growing piles of ever-bigger courgettes, and as soon as she found a new way to cook the last lot, a new lot promptly appeared. They became the bane of her life as she scoured cookbooks and everyone in the family started passing magazine articles to her. She ended up writing a comedy poem about it, and I christened the courgette patch "Cardington" because it produced a never-ending stream of zeppelin-shaped objects. For once, mum got behind my aircraft geekdom and the (much reduced in future years) courgette patch was known as "Cardington" forever more. ;D
