Just spitballing here but if they were above the wing could they affect lift if they slowed the airflow over the top of the wing?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

zenrat industries:  We're everywhere, for your convenience.

The Wooksta!

Only where the attachment brackets were.

Potentially,  that's kinda the issue I was thinking of but wasn't sure if it would or not. Fuselage air brakes it is then 🤔
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

The A-36 Apache had top-of and bottom-of wing mounted dive brakes, but they were recessed.

Yes, the bottom ones pivot fwd, the top ones pivot aft. They stand away from the wing enough that the top set don't act as spoilers. It was a neat design that worked very well.
The "they were wired shut in action" story is evidently as much of a myth as the name Apache. It was the A-36A Mustang

I suppose something similar could be done on the Stuka, where they'd
be placed is the question. The top set would need to be recessed when not deployed, that's not as critical on the bottom aside from considerations in terms of drag. They'd definitely need to be slotted like the A-36A or perforated.
