The second prototype suffered a structural failure, the rear fuselage broke in two during overload take-off tests, the fuselage broke during the final stages of the third landing run. The aircraft was rebuilt with some simple structural mods that were also applied to the other prototype and the five production aircraft. Problems were also experienced with the landing gear were. No further major problems were encountered, all attrition being the result of accident, with the exception of 'Frobisher' destroyed by a German air raid. The two survivors were scrapped due to lack of spares.

The structural design was actually very strong with the fuselage being a true monococque.

Here's a picture of that structural failure, I left the caption on it too. I also heard that the  Albatross was the inspiration for the Constellation. Looking at the fuselage and wing contours I can see how that may be true.
