Well worth a visit, but it's larger than it looks and needs a lot of time dedicated.

If I'm up there as well I'll give you the '$100 dollar tour' of the E-Train if you like.  ;D

Visiting relatives in Carlisle, and what should I hear above mum's house? Yes, it's the familiar clatter of the Coastguard helicopter bringing YET ANOTHER bent or broken Lake District casualty into the Cumberland Infirmary.  Later, and somewhat unexpectedly, a Chinook put down on the Infirmary pad, from up Spadeadam way.

And it's still early in the season  :-\

Into the Lake District today; several Tucanos, a pair of EXCESSIVELY noisy Typhoons and the inevitable Coastguard helicopter  heading very fast and low from central Lakeland towards the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.  The RVI takes the particularly broken Climbers.

Do Typhoons come in any other versions?

Every one I've heard is MEGA LOUD!   :o

Overflown today by a pair of ADF Black Hawks heading South East.  I would hazard a guess they were going to HMAS Cerberus.
Obviously the one day i managed to get a half decent pic then Flickr is down...

Just had a lovely C-47 in full invasion markings fly over. Just departed from Prestwick and heading south. It is N47TB.
One of three that arrived yesterday the other two are N26541 and N47E.
Back on Monday another one, N33611 arrived.

Sorry no photos and I have not had the chance to get out to the airport to see what is still there (hospital appointments, DOH!)

More on the C-47 invasion here at Prestwick.
I was passing the airport and only had my phone with me.
I will be going back out there with my camera shortly.

7 C-47s

Well as promised I did go back out to the airport with my camera and so it started to rain, not such an unusual occurrence in SW Scotland, but it is NOT true that we are born with webbed feet!
The first surprise was that there were not 7 Daks but 8.
I know that Dakota/Dak is truly only applicable to C-47s that were operated by the RAF, all the rest being C-47 Skytrains or C-53 Skytroopers, but what the heck. Everyone knows them as Daks.
There was also a Beech KingAir with them as you will see from the photos.
Also there are a number of Military vehicles and Re-enactors in suitable costume.

So to the photos :

Then there were a few vehicles :

That's it folks.
I do apologise for having to put all these photos into the thread but Imageshack realy messes with the order of your photos when you try and put them into an album.

Cheers,

Jim

Thanks so much for posting this! No apology required for anything.
So wish I could be there for this!

Yes, great photos Jim!,,

Unusual one, an autogiro.  Don't think I've seen one before, possibly at an airshow once.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
