According to the Beeb News, today will be the busiest ever day ever for air traffic over the UK, triggering a response from the NATS that the airways need updating pretty darn soon.

Naturally, with all this potential traffic to see above us, it's 8/8 cloud at around 500 ft.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

On Tuesday, I saw this pull right up beside where I was stationed on the ramp at YYC, it was about 25-30 feet away from me.

;D ;  That's right Fred.  All the airlines represented by these three 146's are based in either the Northwest Territories or the Yukon. The short field capabilities of the 146 are well appreciated up there.  I'm seeing these more at the main terminal because YYC has just this last year doubled the size of the terminal plus adding the new runway which is now the longest one in Canada.

Good to see 146s alive and well out there, they're pretty much extinct in the UK these days.

A lot of them have been snapped up to convert into water bombers Kit. There were eight of them for the longest time stored in the boneyard at YYC but now there's only one there. For spares I was told.

Thanks Kitnut.  I flew from Alice Springs to Cairns on a 146 while on Honeymoon 17 years ago.  IIRC it was about the time they were having issues with fumes getting in the air-con.

I saw that as well. Wonder if Dave has had to go back to the "tools" ?  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Today is Belgium independence day, and as every year, there was a military parade over Brussels.
over my house, we had a part of the Airborne part of the parade flying over before turning towards Brussels

nice flypast here by Belgian Air Force F-16's, 2 C-130's and the sole Airbus A321

Sikorsky S-92.  It' been doing a strange thing, hovering around the edge of my little town, between south and east and back again over more than 30 minutes.  It's not the first time I've seen this, one of the old yellow Sea Kings did a similar thing in the same area some years ago.  Training exercise?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A USCG Jayhawk was flying over the west side of Chicago yesterday. No idea why.

A LONG way from the coast for sure. Was it heading for Oshkosh too perhaps?

Do the Coast Guard area of operations include the Great Lakes?

More Black Cockatoos today.  Two groups of three or four dogfighting over the houses on this side of the street.  I think it was a turf war.

They do, as well as operational responsibilities (of varying degrees) over all inland waterways.

Considering that the border between Canada and the USA runs practically down the middle of them ---- yes.  BTW, (and I think this has been said before) Niagara Falls is in Canada, the border line is just down stream of it.
