They were bought as-is, straight off the shelf. Removing the hooks, wing-folds etc. would take time and cost money.

that is what I've heard cited as a reason for not denavalising the F-18's that have been sold abroad too.

More like it would have clashed with Northrop's A-18 who retained their rights for the land based strike fighter at the time as it was their design, McDD navalised it for the USN/USMC

One of the new HMCG/Bristow S-92's.  Right over the house, got a surprisingly good pic for my point 'n click.  I guess I'll be seeing less of the old yella Squea-Kings now, since Bristow have got the contract for SAR for the UK.

Saw this guy again today, although it was about a mile off-shore Withernsea.

A couple of none aircraft related spots too, a red Cortina Mk.III and a brown Rover P6. It drove home the reason I was out, to show my kids the haunts where my Dad took me and my brother when we were kids.  These cars would gave been pretty common then, in fact we may well have been riding in a Cortina.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I was in the New Forest over the weekend, and somebody was out enjoying the sunshine in a Little Nellie style autogyro. A very strange noise... :blink:

Looks like a busy day up there in the North of Holland! Was there some NATO exercise on?

Captain Canada

Wow great shots ! Love the Hornet coming in, one of the best looking 'landing' aeroplanes in my opinion.

Yups Kit, it's week 2 of exercise Frisian Flag. (That sadly means it is also the last week of same exercise :angry: )
I'm so happy to hear engine notes that differ from those infernal F16's  ;D

@Scooter: what kerick wrote.
The wing's eagle came in two flavours, too. low-viz and high:

And they brought some friends with them:

Had to crop these photo's, so my apologies for the quality loss.

@ Captain Canuck, with kind regards:

I hope my agenda and the organisers' are in sync so I can take some pics friday of the whole flying circus leaving town; can't wait to witness a C-17 up close. Maybe it can cure me of my Hercules-fixation. ;D
