The Wooksta!

Saw an RAF Hercules landing at Newcastle Airport as I was going into work on Friday.

It's always cool when the contrails hang like that. Really gives you an idea of the enormity of air travel. Saw somat similar in the USA a few weeks back.

:tornado:

Opposite effect on 9/11/2001 when everything was grounded. I live in the Chicago area and there are always contrails heading in every direction. Except that day. Clear blue sky and nothing to be seen. Very weird feeling.

I was in the Kansas City area and never realized the volume of traffic KCI got until after 9-11.

Just to change the subject. About twenty minutes ago this female Sparrowhawk dropped into the back garden and collected a fresh breakfast Starling.
She sat there, about 12-15 feet away, eating it then flew off with the remains about 15 minutes later.

Few years ago I spent Xmas and New Year in Orlando (yes Disneyworld) and was amazed how relatively quiet the hotels were on Xmas day it'self. Made it a really nice, comfortable day. The day after (Boxing day for the Brits) the whole world and his mother in law arrived, it was unbelievable

You're a madman. We got out before it got too busy there. I'm back home in Jacksonville, now.

Cheers,

Logan

Blame my friends from California  ;D Seriously I thoroughly enjoyed it. Being in a Disney hotel helped as you got early entry to the attractions. Plus being a Londoner I'm used to large crowds and it wasn't as busy as London can get at times

They have 'Jim's Café' painted on his roof but he can't see it of course.  ;D

Pics of some of the firefighting Airtractors returning to the airport to reload while bombing a rather close bushfire here yesterday. 43+ Celsius and 60 to over 80km/h wind gusts.

Been a few shots of the fire bombers in Aus on the BBC News. I can never quite work out how effective some of these tactics are ? You look at the size of the fire and then the small amount of water/retardant the bombers can drop and it just doesn't compute in my brain. The cost/benefit analysis is probably an interesting one as well and has probably been done at some time and sealed away for a 100 years or so.
