Kit, you need to procure a heftier camera. You know, that's how the pros get their shots. You just smack the camera in the head of whoever is in the way, rapidly turn the camera around and shoot. Works predominantly with Nikon DSLR cameras as these are built based around a sturdy aluminium frame. :)

I discovered some years ago that a good tripod with suitably pointed legs  has an interesting effect ...........but one does need to dip the points in Domestos occasionally  to keep them sweet.

My Pentax DS2 *id gp 45 sh 36 (or similar....) is pretty brick-like and with the 70-300 mm zoom mounted it's not exactly subtle either, but it's 'heft' had no effect as the McJoes and McJanes were all facing the other way!

Next time I'll just trample them.......

around lunchtime we had a nice looking DC-3 Dakota coming in to land at Ostend, and i just got back from my visiting an ant this afternoon, and we had a visit from a Belgian AF F-16AM

-all kinds of things.

Border Guard AW119 Ke Koala, looking as if it was searching for something.
... or maybe getting familiar with the area, in case any fast jets get lost between the suburbs during the upcoming Air Force exercise...

An EC145 casevac chopper flew right past my 8th floor hospital window this afternoon, at VERY close range!  :o

It seems the emergency helipad is quite close by, but as my bed is on the inboard side I hadn't noticed before. I'll keep a close eye out in future and see if Mrs PR19 can bring my camera in on her next trip.  ;D

On final as seen from my front porch at dawn...black and white gives this image more character.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

NARSES2

Loads of flying egg whisks - police and ambulance kind. Main road at the top of where I live is shut in both directions, no idea why at the mo. Round here it could be anything  :banghead:
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Several Army Lynx AH.7s buzzing overhead at work the last few days. I see/hear Lynxes quite frequently, but they're usually the Navy HMA.8s.

Working in Windsor (ON) I'm pretty sure I saw two Sweizer cut-rate spy jobs take off from Detroit metro and form up....sept. 12th so wonder if they were 'working' or demo a/c or what ? Neat looking aeros to be sure.

I know the feeling, pyro; I see gray-painted Seahawks all day, every day, so when I see a green Blackhawk, it's refreshing.

Cheers,

Logan

I went for a drive down the Florida coast today and stumbled into an airshow.  To be perfectly honest, that's not all that uncommon in Florida.  I took a drive with the family down from Jacksonville to Patrick AFB and apparently they were using Patrick as the staging field for the military aircraft used at the Cocoa Beach airshow.  So, my first indication that there was an airshow was seeing a helicopter performing loops.  We got a little closer and it was clearly the Red Bull Bo 105 aerobatic helicopter.  We drove on to Patrick and lined up on the tarmac was a spotter's dream.  Less than a hundred meters from the base road we were driving on were:

Patrick AFB's resident aircraft:

About 8x USAF HC-130P/N Combat King legacy rescue Hercules
A few USAF HH-60G Pave Hawk rescue Blackhawks
2x ex-USAF Department of State C-27A Spartans (rare)
1x ex-USMC Department of State CH-46E Sea Knight
1x Department of State Cessna Grand Caravan

Visiting aircraft for the nearby air show:

1x USAF B-1B Lancer
2x USAF F-22A Raptors
2x USMC MV-22B Ospreys
1x USCG HH-65 Dolphin
1x civilian P-51D Mustang

After that, we drove down to Cape Canaveral and enjoyed looking at the various display rockets and shuttles.

So, just going for a drive, nothing intentional, I got to see some very rare aircraft on a gorgeous day at the beach in sunny Florida.  Some days it's good to live in Florida.

Cheers,

Logan

I have not appeared here in a long time, mostly because I don't get a lot of ops for decent photos, and I get tired of snapping the same MD-80s and GA types over and over.  Friday I got to see something special, and I got my camera up just in time to snap this before it disappeared over the horizon.

I've seen Ospreys in static displays before, but this was my first time seeing one in flight.
