Couple of days back a P-8 Poseidon flew over while on test.
I have 737 NGs flying over all the time and the P-8 sounded very different,
actually the unusual sound is what made me go look.

For those in the Windsor area today there's a large flypast of current and vintage RAF aircraft as part of the Jubilee celebrations

Guys at work have been sorting out the temporary airspace restrictions, notifications and exemptions from the Rules of the Air for the flypast.  In fact a colleague has blagged a ride in the air-to-air camera helicopter!

Caught the last half hour while I was having lunch. HRH was obviously enjoying the fly past by the look of the smile on her face, especially the Hawks spelling out Q II E

A question about RAF dress regs. Are officers allowed a full set - beard and tash ?

If your the Duke of Somewhere (Kent I think) and have an honorary rank, it appears so.  When I were a lad in'th Air Force there were exceptions for medical reasons (skin complaints) but only for the duration.  Otherwise no.

As I was coming out of the super market 20 mins ago, an RAF marked Catalina went lumbering over head. It was slow enough and low enough to recognize it. What a lovely and rare sight to see such brilliant and neglected warbird.

Rheged

Seen at about 750 to 1000 feet up, 10 miles north of Wolverhampton..........a GOODYEAR branded blimp.  I'd been collecting young Rheged from Uni.   Lunch at Cosford........I can recommend the curry.

The Wooksta!

The flying pig was hovering over one of the roundabouts over the A1 on my way to work yesterday, no doubt harassing motorists.

Pop over to Shrewsbury.  The Ramna Balti House, just over the English Bridge, is IMO, one of the best in the country.  Me and the Tyneside lads go there every year.

That's interesting, my daughter (she who's 'The Best.....' you know what I'm going to say!  ;D) mentioned that place as one of the best Indian's she's been in as well. I must try it when she's back from the Falkands and we're up there next.

Amazingly the Sultan Balti right here in Lydney, and in sight of my front window, used to be the only Indian restaurant in the Egon Ronay Guide! I've eaten there and it was pretty good, but I don't know how the Egon Ronay people judge such things.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The Wooksta!

You and the lads should pop over one night at the Nats this year.  Worth bringing Brad over too.

I'll bear that in mind for when  we are on holiday near Leominster in late July.

Should you ever get as far North as Carlisle, the Stanwix Tandoori  is reliable.............and then there's the Solway Air Museum close by;  Vulcan, Phantom, Lightning,Canberra,Hunter, Sea Prince etc    Amateur but well done  and you get to sit in the Vulcan driver's seat as part of the deal..

Went to Lakenheath and Mildenhall yesterday with a mate and got rather sunburnt!

Spotted 4 F-15C Eagles take off and land, HH-60G going round and round practising the rescue role, several KC-135s flying in and possibly a Learjet C-21. Parked up were a C-17, KC-10 and a pair of PZL M38 Skytrucks. Not sure if these are USAF or Polish, one was grey camo and one was white and blue..
We also saw a pair of Belgian F-16s, the boring grey one didn't fly but the pretty painted one took off and did a recce over Duxford!
