Two F/A-18s, breaking right to get on long finals for the air base.
Timing fits the overflight of the biggest military cemetery in town, commemorating the Finnish Armed Forces Flag Day.

Apparently yesterday a "fighter Jet" was buzzing the town I live in around 9:30 in the morning. Unfortunately I was at a Dr appointment 20 minutes away. And that's all the info I can gets as no one could identify it. I always miss the good stuff.

A pair of KC-135s flew over, landing at Selfridge ANG base in Michigan. They flew across the pond from Riga in Latvia.

Just had an RAF Texan II make a VERY high G turn over my country home!

He had almost 90 degrees of bank on, it was that tight! And he was going like a dingbat too, zero chance of grabbing the camera. :(

Diamondback

Last week, a bald eagle circling over my neighborhood. Unsure if he was looking for an easy meal from our squirrels or a free lift from thermalling.

Bald eagles are unusual here, but what was even MORE so was one of our neighborhood crows up there in the eagle's face, harassing it and chasing it off--and the crow was winning the dispute, though I suspect it was largely on the eagle deciding "you got lots of buddies, they're more trouble to deal with than you're worth."

PT6s always sound good, there's something about the way the prop and exhaust sounds mix that does it.

Raptors tend not to retaliate when mobbed by "lesser" species.  I have been told that this is because to do so risks injury as if injured they would be unable to feed.
Scavenging omnivorous species like crows or magpies could survive if hurt but a raptor needs to be in condition to hunt and catch prey.

I've also heard that if you're a hobbyist or serious poultry farmer (namely chickens), if you've a problem with hawks decimating your flocks, black chickens are the solution, as the hawks will assume they're a corvid and stay away.

Watching the Red Kites sailing around over my 'country home' is amusing when they get mobbed by lesser breeds.  ;D

You can almost see the look of disdain on their faces as they just tighten their thermalling circles and climb out of reach, a bit like a Lightning versus an F-100.  ;)

All of the raptors around here - the hawks are mostly Goshawks, Cooper's, Red Tail and Sharp Shin with the occasional Harrier, osprey and bald eagle are common, and owls if they're in the area just hangin' out in the daytime, are regularly mobbed and harassed by our local black buddies. The only ones they don't mob are the little kestrels. In that case it's just a one-on-one, but it doesn't happen very often as the kestrels generally stay down in the marshy areas of the river delta.
