Another Airbus Voyager KC2 took off today --- into the murk at about 1000 feet.

Not over the house, but only a few miles away...a little spotting at the observation area at Charlotte/Douglas International this evening.  Thunderstorms off to the east made from some dramatic skies.

First up a Dash 8-300.  Soon to be gone from CLT and the American Airlines fleet...I loved my time flying the Mighty Mighty Dash 8 and will definitely miss it.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Not exactly seen flying, but passed by on my way to holland.
Sitting on the side of the freeway was an ex-Belgian air force F-104G Starfighter :)

Seriously looks like aviation art.  And I'll have to second Fred's "is gorgeous".

Shame the Whiffies don't have a "Best seen over your house" category.

Maybe they could?  Perhaps the Academy should consider it?

Yet another Spitfire o'head my convalescent home this morning.

This time it was a Merlin engine variant, either a IX or an XI, but against the sun I couldn't see details. But it sounded terrific.  ;D ;)

And it was very apposite as I'm just re-reading Alex Henshaw's 'Sigh for a Merlin'.

Thanks for hte comments guys.  We've had sever storms around the area just about every day for over 2 weeks now.  Making for some interesting "sky pictures".  An hour or so after taking the Dash 8 pic I managed to get a (poor and grainy) shot of lightning discharging off to the east.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Two BAE CT-156 Harvard II's took off in quick succession yesterday morning at YYC. I noticed they had a white cheat line down the middle of the fuselage which I'd not seen before, quick google search reveals more photos of the new scheme.

Passing Gloucester on the M5, on the way to IKEA Bristol (guess whose next build is at 1:1 scale!!) a plethora of small helicopters looking like a pond full of airborne tadpoles.  No specific IDs possible,  as the entire  loon population of  the South West was out to play and performing unusual, whimsical and extremely worrying overtaking (and undertaking) manoeuvres all around me.  On the way back, a pair of  RAF Herculeses and an A400 M all travelling East at very low altitude near Tewkesbury.

Ah yes, that's a known low level routing to and from the Welsh exercise areas. It was MUCH more fun when the Buccs used it.  ;D

Not sure what is going on around Calgary yesterday but I saw three RCAF aircraft land at YYC. First one was a CF-188, followed about an hour later by a CT-145 (King Air 350) in a new livery. This was quickly followed by an all yellow CC-138 Twin otter.

(Not my photos, I found them on the internet)
