Boeing 717, pah! It's an MD95 with a Boeing badge.

It ought to have been quieter than a 737 as it's powered by Rolls-Royce BR715s which are a tad newer than the CFM56s on the 737s.

I'm envious as I've never even SEEN a 717/MD95 myself.

Looks like a DC-9 to me, Kit!   :o

It has wings, a t-tail and two engines at the back - looks like a DC-9 to me!

I can see you're a military man Brian.  ;D

Definitely does not look like a Boeing 717 !

FYI 717 was the original Boeing model number for what became the KC-135 series.

Yeah, and the MD95 was renumbered as the 717-200 following the McDD-Boeing merger, to much
derision from those of us within the company who were aircraft aficionados. The KC-135 became
the 717-100.

And much head banging from me too! That was around the same time the Boeing web site started to refer to the DC3 as the 'Boeing DC3'. I wrote them a VERY rude email about that.

Some thing like the shock the first time I read about the "Lockheed" F-16!

That would be fun to see! Maybe a few modern touches like winglets and squared off wings and tail.

The Boeing website history section refers to all heritage products by their correct manufacturer.

The story is different with in production aircraft. They are correctly referred to by the name of the company
currently making them, thus Boeing F-15, F-18, C-17 and Lockheed F-16.

The Super DC-3 had squared off flying surfaces and winglets would be of limited utility in the DC-3 flight envelope.

It does now, but it didn't just after they bought out McD.

There was a bit on there that talked about 'History of the Company' which referred to a 'Boeing DC3'. But it was only there for about a week when a barrage of emails etc. prompted them to put it right. And the perpetrator was fired, no doubt......

Really? Unless they are going to put the DC3 back into production... ;D

I'd like to see them put the Skyraider back into production...

What was the three turboprop Dak called? Was that a modified Super DC 3?

It was a conversion done by Conroy Aircraft and was called the Tri-Turbo-Three. It was based on a standard DC-3/C-47 airframe and had the normal shaped wingtips, tailplanes, fin/rudder.

....and add a pair of booster jet pods.
Make it carrier capable with folding wings and an arrestor hook.
Do not forget the Autogyro rotor, like the Rotordyne.

The tricky bit will be deciding who's colour scheme should it wear
