Captain Canada

We were at a party a few weeks back and a red trimmed B-17 flew over, gleaming silver in the sun. The sound was amazing and it was nice to see people shut up and take notice of an aeroplane for a change !

I've just spotted a Dragon Rapide over London, shiny silver with RAF roundels. I'm pretty sure it is the one that I flew in from Duxford some years ago.

Rather more interesting was the Little Ship I saw yesterday. Warakei II went to Dunkirk and rescued about 150 men. She's now got a rich owner who pays for a full time crew, he goes out for lunch with friends on the Thames regularly. Beautiful and well looked after.

I was surprised how quiet a B-17 is compared to a Lancaster. PA474 makes quite a racket with those 4 Merlins, but Sally B was almost inaudible in some positions, very odd.

It doesn't surprise me when you read about the DC-4 vs. the North Star. Those Merlins were painful.

Cheers,

XL577 is the one that 'rides shotgun' on Kemble's flying Canberra PR9 XH134, also in silver these days.

About two hours ago, the Red Arrows.
Inbound to Prestwick having just done their fly past at the opening of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Watched the fly past on TV then watched them arrive here. AH!

A Griffon Spitfire trundling north up the Severn just below the cloudbase.

It was just a silhouette and it had vanished in the  haze before I got the bins on it, could have been one of the BoB Flight ones or the R-R one maybe. I don' think there are any others, are there?

On Monday, a Sentry AEW going home to Waddington.  I seem to be seeing quite a bit of Waddo traffic recently.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

BBMF Lancaster Spitfire and i think a Buchon could'nt get a clear look due to the sun, all doing low level circuits of Ashby area of Scunthorpe. Mrs Cyclist not understanding my excitement looks at me like i am the nuyter off the bus

Gaah!
Is that what they were?
By the time I'd got outside (after tripping over the cat) they were out sight.
Rats!
The one I did catch a disappearing glimpse of had wide-chord squared-off wing tips and what looked like a radial engine...
(Cottage Beck Road Scunny).

A beautiful silver and blue Aircoupe flew over last evening.....I got a crappy pic of him later as he was leaving the airport. I'm guessing he was clearing Customs and heading into the USA. Wish I could have seen the reg on it....
