Nick

Had me a busy weekend in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. Went to the BBMF Museum at Coningsby for a guided tour to see all the aircraft under maintenance. They have a Dakota, Chipmunk, 2 Hurricanes and several Spitfires. They were in the hangar, outside was the Lancaster gleaming in the sunshine. I left at 4pm and driving along just 10 minutes later the Lanc flew overhead  :banghead:

Following a tipoff from a guy at BBMF I went to Woodhall Spa and the Petwood Hall Hotel, which was the RAF Officers Mess used by 617 Squadron. Their bar is packed with Dambusters history and unique photos of the crews and the missions plus all sorts of memorabilia.

Saw the Blackburn Beverley at Fort Paull. Was nice to see her again along with the Hunter that used to stand guard outside the Humbrol factory in Hull. Fortunately there was a classic car show on at the time because the Fort is an embarrassment of a museum, everything is secondhand and covered in birdcrap, cobwebs and mould. If I'd paid just for the Fort visit I'd have felt ripped off.

Lincoln Cathedral has a Chapel dedicated to RAF Flying Training School and Bomber Command with wonderful stained glass windows.  As I was driving out of Lincoln tonight I spotted an E-3 Sentry heading down to RAF Waddington. Couldn't get a photo as was too far away plus I was driving at the time!
Photos of all will follow in due course...

Three swans in close formation.
I think they can already find an open patch of water somewhere where the water flows.

... perhaps Spring and summer are coming after all.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

There isn't a modern warplane as pretty as a B-17...or as awe-inspiring.

I don't think I've ever seen the word 'pretty' applied to a B-17 before..........  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit, compared to today's Yawn Forces, the B-17 is a work of the Masters in a room of Velvet Elvis's

B-17's are nice, but I prefer this one, it flew right over our heads two days after I took this photo while in Yuma a few weeks ago. I wasn't expecting it then as I thought it had already left the day before so no camera ready unfortunately ----  :banghead:

Circling Crosby for the last few mins, a Chinook, just disappeared southeast heading toward the city centre.

Not a plane, but this guy has been hanging around the acreage for the last few weeks.  I think I've identified it correctly as a Rough-Legged Hawk which can get to about two feet tall which this ones seems to be near.

The tree here is about 70 feet high to give a size perspective

Coming home from the MK show I was just north east of Oxford when an RAF C-130J came over at low level and quite slow with the ramp down. As it headed west a stick of paratroops jumped out the back!  :o

It must have over the Weston-on-the-Green paradrop site but I didn't realise I was so close.
