I've seen a few of them in flight.  They're generally over and you're watching them leaving by the time you hear it.  I love how sci-fi they look.  Really an awesome bird.

Cheers,

Logan

I went for a drive down the Florida coast today and stumbled into an airshow.
After that, we drove down to Cape Canaveral and enjoyed looking at the various display rockets and shuttles.

<big snip>

So, just going for a drive, nothing intentional, I got to see some very rare aircraft on a gorgeous day at the beach in sunny Florida.  Some days it's good to live in Florida.

Only in the USA Logan, only in the USA!  ;D

Seriously, we're all green with envy now of course. I can't imagine how we'd ever find such a situation in the UK these days, more's the pity.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

There are many days that I get very envious of European plane spotters.  We never see anything from Eastern Europe or the CIS, for example.  What I wouldn't give to see a Flanker or a Frogfoot at a US airshow!  It's rare enough to see a Typhoon or Tornado.

That having been said, the days in the US where you decide to pop on the local base to grab some Halloween candy and a suitcase at the local BX and you drive literally a stone's throw away from a B-1, a couple of F-22s, and a couple of Ospreys...well, those are the days that make up for it.

I was wondering how many airfields on earth had those 3 types on the tarmac at that moment.  I wouldn't have been surprised if Patrick were the only one.  Throw in C-27As and a P-51D, and Patrick AFB was definitely in a category by itself.

Then, when you have a public access beach right across the road lined by palm trees on a gorgeous day in paradise, well, it's hard not to feel spoiled, I agree.

By the way, good photos of the aircraft at Cocoa Beach and sitting on the tarmac at Patrick on the Facebook page for the airshow, along with plenty of video.

We had the local air ambulance come into the small place I work, we thought it was an emergency transfer out of our place, but turned out someone had a bad fall around the corner and it was a pick up. It came complete with TV camera team etc.

Yesterday, I got my first glimpse of the air ambulance that has recently started operating in my area. It was doing a tight turn for a final approach to the hospital.

Today, I heard some cranes heading south. I couldn't spot their formation in the grey sky. Can they fly in or above clouds?

was helping my brother move today, and while loading the van with stuff for the Junkyard, we had an nice flyover by a silver/yellow colored Stearman Kaydet

The Australian SASR (who's barracks is just down the coast from here) every year at this time do their introduction parachute jumps into the ocean just off the coast.   Saw a Caribou today, with them jumping out.  What is interesting is that the 'Bous were retired a couple of years ago from RAAF service. 7 were acquired by Amrock Aviation Pty Ltd based in Brisbane, which will "use the aircraft for humanitarian work in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands..."

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Four F/A-18s going towards the base, followed by an Air Force Learjet.
I'm pretty sure the Learjet was there as a safety observer for a combat maneuvering exercise. Sometimes it is a Pilatus PC-12 that follows the Hornets when they return.

Apart from the usual air ambulance   and a Navy rescue Sea King  heading  for  the local hospital,  a Chinook and later a Hercules  both at low   level and heading  north west.

And again.... modified next day........a  plethora*  of   Chinooks, all heading North  and  West

*  an indeterminate  number, but more than three
