Just spotted what looked suspiciously like the entire PC-9 compliment of Pearce RAAF base here in Western Australia, flying along the Swan River here in Perth, practising for the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) which is going to be held at the end of the Month.  Nice, tight formation of about 16 PC-9s.   The Queen is going to be in attendance of course and the whole city is going into lockdown for about four days.

The Air Force Fighter Mafia, SG.  All they want are sleek, slippery, pointy nosed poontang getters, nothing that'll help the boots on the ground when facing the bad guys, or has excellent loiter time without sipping on tankers (I work in an ASOS, and been boots on ground before with ARNG)

5mins ago RAF VC-10 low-level over Alwoodley/Wigton Moor/Moortown, north Leeds. On approach to LBA. Strange angle to approach as usually go in over north west parts of city. Awesome noise - the heavy, low cloud made it even better. How could you not love the beautiful VC-10.

James

VC-10 just gone back over house, low level again, heading east following the Ring Road, over Roundhay Park and heading towards Seacroft/Whinmoor.

Good to see the CL415's & fantastic to see a 215 still going!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

There's a TV reality show called 'Ice Pilots', it's about the airline called Buffalo Airlines based in Yellowknife NWT.  They operate DC-3's, C-46's and DC-6's and a couple of Electra's to boot.  On one episode, the gang trooped off all the way to Columbia to have a look at (and possible purchase) a Columbian Airforce CL215 which did end up back in Canada.  They use it for the fire-fighting contract the airline has with the NWT.  They have this thing with R-2800 powered aircraft which, I think, will eventually be their downfall if they're not too careful, because AvGas is getting increasingly scarce up in the Arctic. That's the reason they got the Electra's (civilian P-3's)

I thought I saw a VC-10 - over sunny Scunny - in the low cloud earlier today.
What if... I had a brain?

Captain Canada

Thanks for the comments guys ! And I have to agree...it's nice to see all these CDN birds !

Now...looke what I spotted there today ! Who's birds are these ? I'm guessing somebody is doing some mods for the USAF ? Be pretty cool if they were RCAF or Canadian Army birds !

Well this has made my day, I didn't have a camera with me, but I saw a Spitfire flying south over my home in south London, the sound was wonderful! I don't believe it was one of the Merlin engined Spits, it looked longer in the nose, I shall look on the BBC/ITN news sites and see if there was a display on. It put the biggest smile on my face!
