...and if it falleth to me to slay the nested quotes then so be it...

I think the reason the 'simple' double delta looks wrong is that it adds wing area aft without compensating for it forwards. Remember, the Draken's inner wing had 80 deg of sweep compared to the Mirage's 60 deg.

Here I've reduced the span of Scotaidh's wingtip extension a little, straightened it's trailing edge, extended the inner wing leading edge, and extended the intake duct to provide the latter somewhere to mount to. I think it looks better, though whether it's an improvement on the original 'pure' wing is debatable.

Neo: How can that be?
MtY: I don't know man, I didn't do it.

Exactly.

Dassault got the Mirage IV SO right first time around, better than any of their other Mirages I reckon, that it's very difficult, of not impossible, to improve upon it.

In fact, it may be the ONLY aircraft to which my First Rule does not apply.......  ;D ;D ;D
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Just think of it as a bigger, longer wing for a Mirage III but it was so big they had to make the fuselage bigger and longer too ----  ;D
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

But wait, maybe there IS a way..............

Keeping the simple wing sweep angle and shape, plus F-15/Tornado type intakes...

And to keep the nose/fuselage proportions similar we could extend the nose too.

Yes, either of those solutions is a LOT of plastic engineering, but we're good at that, aren't we?  ;)

Your second mod Kit and one or two of the others make it look a little like what a pure delta XF.108 Rapier might have looked like.

Those are quite similar to some of Dassault's proposals to the Minerve program, although it had a high wing and a tail. It was a project for a missile carrier follow on to Mirage IV.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
