An israeli variant with a J-79... cool idea! Maybe you could use a Kfir tail (with the small air intake to cool the hotter J-79). With an Israeli camo, it would rock!!!
If you make a switzerland variant, you have to add canards on the air intakes (the result would have a similar configuration to the Su-30 a kind of "triplane" )

I'm waiting to see your model impatiently Mr Havenoname...

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

OK, I've come to a desicion. I'm just going to buy two or three more Mirage F1 kits, and I'll do this one as Patrouille Suisse, and then do a regular Swiss one, a J79 Israeli one, and maybe a Taiwanese one later. There are just too many good ideas here to pass up.

You could update your J79 engined versions with PW1120 engines in the 1990's.  I'd still keep four versions; a modernized "simple" day attack F1A version, a light multi-role F1E version, a conversion trainer/'Wild Weasel' F1B version and a carrier-based F1M version.

For the Israeli one,I went with a combo of the Mirage F-1A day attack model and J-79 engine.

Now y'all know that only our friend NEV is the only guy here more emotionally attached to the F1 than me, but as he's not here right now, it's up to me to suggest the (most) obvious......

JAPAN......

Think of it: Overall grey for the initial delivery machines, tactical camo for the recon birds, all manor of anti collision/opposition force schemes for the aggressors, two-tone deep blue for anti-shipping tasked aircraft.

Just my tuppence worth..... Go nutz !

coool! plenties of ideas on this thread... always thought that the M88 could fit in a Mirage F1 (particularly for Marocco). Same thrust as the Atar, but 40% lighter and smaller... ask heller for a Rafale exhaust... just send them a letter with the reference of the model and what you want,  and wait 8 days :)

Oh WOW. Dammit, now I have to get on eBay and order another kit. That just looks to perfect to pass up. And I think the Patrouille Suisse version will have to wait for the second kit, 'cause I'm gonna bump this one ahead. Thanks for the profile IF-14A! Now, does anyone happen to have a spare 1/72 J-79 burner can I can use for this build?

Haha, no, I live in the U.S., but my user name is Spanish. Good call. And I'll send you a PM about the afterburner can.

*chuckle* I found a storage box I thought was in the remote southern stash and it turns out I've got two Mirage F-1 kits on hand, one each from Airfix and Hasegawa, now the question is what to model them as.  I admit to being sorely, sorely tempted to do a Mirage F-1W2 as a Boeing-built J79-powered aircraft in USAF Agressor markings and converting the other to a F-1E using bits from a Mirage 2000 to start with.  But with some of the other ideas set out here, there's so many other possibilities to chose from.

Decisions, decisions....

Paging Evan to the nearest courtesy phone...

What's the chance of fitting anything like a GE F110 or PW F100 into a Mirage F.1 without noticably enlarging the rear fuselage?  Reason I ask is because I've got a spare engine off of a 1/48 Revell F-16 ADF kit.  Would either engine acceptable or reasonable from a 'real-life' engineering standpoint?

While I'm not Evan, I'd think that your idea is up the creek w/o major redesign of the aft fuselodge (enitre length at that). If my ballparking is correct, the engine of the F1 is about the same dia., if not a tad smaller, as the GE F404. The F100 and F110 are significantly larger than the 404, and the engine in the F1.

If I'm wrong, then I'll pay the piper his flippen due  ;)
