I haven't done any modelling for ages due to work commitments so I took a day off today and kicked it old skool throwing this 17 Squadron F/A-18F together.

It's deeply flawed but it is a completed 1/72 plastic model aircraft!

Careful-in certain circles you might get lynched for that aircraft/markings combo.

BUT I LOVE IT!!!

Well, the Hornet is one wicked and powerful aeroplane, so why not love the Super  Hornet ?

Nice looking model, btw. Great job ! Now lets see you strap some bombs and stuff to it, eh ? And why did you kick the old stool ? A sacrifice to the model gods ?

Deeply flawed my arse!*  I wish I could turn out something that good in a month's work, let alone a day.

Looks a lot less than deeply flawed to me!

Not bad, for a bug on steroids!

Nice Simon, and completed with lightning speed!

Is deeply flawed the same sort of thing as saying Bad means Good?

If so, brother, then that thing is deeply flawed to the max. I love it... I mean, I hate it... ahh ok, it downright sucks?

Geeze I can't get my head around this new language thing.

How about,  It looks wonderful, by the Websters dictionaly meaning of wonderful.

Ok Simon, I will call your bluff!  Describe to us how this excellent model is 'deeply flawed'. :)

It's the Hasegawa 1/72 which is up to Big H's usual standard and can, with a bit of care, be built without any filler or sanding. But...

There's some fogging on the front section of the canopy.

The main gear doors are on the wrong sides.

One of the nose gear doors is missing.

It was hot when I sprayed the clear coat so I've got a 'frost' effect on the vertical stabs.

No weathering.

No stencil decals.

Visible seam on the radome.

The seats were painted with gloss paint, no time to go back and redo them.

The tyres look I painted them with the brush stuck up my arse.

Being an unabashed Hornet admirer, I enjoy it immensely! If you were back at the ripe old age of 9 yrs. old, those "gripes" wouldn't even be noticed. All that matters is now you can deliver some wup donkey to the bad guy's position in the living room, by the sofa. ;)

Well, you got a head start on the aging process!

I note your assertions, Simon, the jury is out :)

I thought one man's radome seam was another's  skillful panel detailling

Be more careful ref sitting down and painting wheels...
