as i posted progress pics of my 1/144 scale carrier project, als known as "NoNS Karpenoff"
i didnt do much progress on it deu to the lack of time, but i finnally managed to get some work done.

i also changed the name cause i thought Karpenoff was kinda lame for an aircraft carrier. it is now known as "L.N.S Hadock" and is a Luetonian Navy vessel (i will post the history and orbat of that country in the Alternative History thread later)

up to now i decided to make it a Russian type escort and assault carrier with a ski-jump and arrestor cables. i already painted the roofs of the main building brown to make it look russian.

she still needs to be painted red at the bottom, the building still needs windows and doors, i still need to build maintainence vechilles,....

as for the airwing on board, i still need to buy the aircraft, of witch im planning to fit. i was thinking of 3 MIG-29K's, 2 EC-135's and perhaps 1 NH-90AEW. the aircraft will possibly be bought at the Koksijde Airshow on the 1 & 2nd of july.

pictures of the work so far.

Looking good, Nils! It's not often I see a ship, let alone an aircraft carrier in such a large scale. I love the name you've christened it with!

Innocent question to "Nils from the land of Tintin": is the commander of this Hadock boat the famous Captain Haddock, the best friend of Tintin? ^_^

I imagine the bar in this ship is quite large and well stocked, given the legacy of Capt. Haddock...

*UPDATE*

the bottom of the ship is now completly painted, all thats left to do now is some work on the main control building, the buying of the aircraft and helo's (will try to get some EC-135's tomorow)
to show how a 1/400 clemenceau can be used as a 1/144 escort carrier, the ship is shown here with a Belgian Seaharrier F/a.3, a East german Mig-32K and a Luetonian EC-135.

time to test the ski-jump, a Belgian Defence Seaharrier F/A.3 lifts of from the deck during tests. for the main wing onboard the ship, im gonna try to get 2 or 3 Mig-29K's (as mentioned earlier) and maybe from 2010, some F-35C's  B)

still a lot of work to be done, im thinking of adding some anti-sub mines, Phalanx miniguns, and/or SAMs.

Hey nils, I just saw your stuff appear in "recent folders" on maj.com. I gotta question for ya...

just how are you going to land that big honking plane sitting on the table onto that carrier??? No wonder its got one leg. :P

 Im just kidding

Cool stuff thougn, now I totally want to do some carriers of my own! Just make sure the captain of the haddock stays away from the sauce, I'd hate to see anything happen to it.

(Hey didnt they try covering up Captain Haddock's boozing with "illness" or something in the Tintin cartoon?)

*UPDATE*

no progress on the ship, nor pics this time, just some change of plans;

-The MIG-29K will lose the blue-grey camo sheme (itss to unpractical for naval operations) and will be applied in a full dark-grey low-vis sheme. the second one will be done by the end of the week.

-the EC-135's are about 90% complete, 1 will recieva a special paint on the starboard side.

-i will possibly start scratchbuilding phalanx guns tommorow.

more updates and pics to follow  :ar:
