I'm taking a break from any serious bashing for a ...oh ... a day or so. ;)
Until then, I'm doing a few diversionary builds. The USN TSR2 and now, The Super Blue Bug! Here's the cockpit in all it's blandness, which I like. ^_^

Good idea, how would a F35 look like that? Or a tomcat?

I have seen both of those aircraft in those colors recently. One was a Tomcat model and the other was computer gen on this site some where. :) The intakes are almost done then into the fuselage. I got Hornet fever!

More work done tonight. This one's going to need a bit of putty. <_<  :)

Sounds like just what Eddie needed  :D

I have a Hornet that I have been thinking about building somewhat normal myself.
I like the old F-18's shape better than the Superbug but they are both nifty in their own way.

I gotta finish up my V-tail Banshee for the Airfix GB before I can think about adding yet one more kit to my unfinished build collection. I did get a nice flat black coat of paint on my Banshee this weekend though :)

Which kit is this, Eddie?

It would be cool to do a Blue Angels jet that had been pressed back into service. In the Blue Angels colours but heavily weathered and armed. Possibly with a few grey panels or control surfaces as a result of ABDR.

This is the curse of speed;  I have been a slave to it all my life. On my gravestone they will carve 'It never got fast enough for me'.

Real World FYI Geek Alert

The Blue Angel Hornets are modified enough to never be put back into fleet service.  Don't remember what exactly but got that info from a BA wrench turner.

Thunderbird F-16s however have to be fully combat ready in 48 hours or something.

All of this for poo-poo (with an english accent) in WiF land however.  A patched BA Superbug would be sweet looking!

But, they are carrier ready. I've seen the photo of one getting ready for a cat shot, which might look good as a base for this one. :) Yea, that's the ticket....

This one is the Revell E version in 1/48. I have a few issues with it (gaps!) but over all it will work nice for my purposes. Good thing, cuz my FLIR and both AIM9-X are not fully formed. I will get replacements for future builds from Revell.

I finally followed the lead and used tape to mask my puttying. whole lot less work that way. B) It's starting to look like and Blue angel now. :D

Looking good in that blue Eddie! Even though I'm a confirmed landlubber, there's something very cool about the Blue Angels paint scheme.

I started marking the yellow tonight and it's beginning to have that familiar look to it. B)

Okay, Mr. Model Whisperer, I have a question.
If I'm not mistaken, you painted the overall blue first, right?

How the heck did you manage to get such a bright, opaque set of yellow  highlights over such a deep blue?

I could try that and 94 coats later, would still have a see-through greenish yellow blecch where you have your yellow.

What's your secret????    B)

Further Real World Geek stuff...

From the Blue Angels site:

QuoteThe Blue Angel F/A-18s have the nose cannon removed, a smoke-oil tank installed and a spring installed on the stick which applies pressure for better formation and inverted flying. Otherwise, the aircraft that the squadron flies are the same as those in the fleet. Each Blue Angel aircraft is fleet capable of being returned to combat duty aboard an aircraft carrier within 72 hours.

Looking forward to seeing the Big Blue done!
