The Wooksta!

This is an earlier attempt at the chocolate bomber scheme, but it's poo-poo (with an english accent).

i originally did it with Halfords and it never looked right.  The one bad thing about Halfords paint is that it's unstrippable, so the best I could do was spray primer over it and respray.  Only I used Humbrol and it's crap.

Besides which, the castings themselves were crap.  The forward fuselage came out of the original mould and was awful.  The rear fuselage was miscat at the bombay whilst the wing is from the original mould which never worked properly and always came out warped.

I hate this model.  After the nats I'm going to tear off the wing, fit a new one, strip and respray it.  Same scheme but with Xtracrylics.

ahhhhhhhh now i'm torn...

not sure if choccy 1 is nicer or not, but i DO like the contrast that the black underside gives to this model - from a purely aesthetic point of view, it's very striking, and i i love it.

absolute joy to have you back again lee.

Now that is stunning :o
What's the story behind that scheme?

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Ditto.  I don't think it looks bad at all.

I got a question, that sorta spurs from the F-111JX on one of the other posts.  Has anyone done or considered a TSR.2 with vectored thrust and some 'stealth' treatment?  Might be an interesting scratchbuild (for someone with much more ambition than I have.

Is it an actual scheme you're trying to replicate?

Not to step on your toes, but if you don't care about trying to emulate something in particular, you might try taking that dark brown color, and mixing two different tints of it, so you have 3 shades of the same color, and try doing your splotches with that.  Just a thought.

Well, the vectoring nozzles would be easy enough, though I think I'd prefer to use a pair of LOAN (Low Observable Axisymmetric Nozzle) units, possibly with vectoring capability added ala' the Su-35/37.  For the inlet, some material/coating changes for the first generation take (though any reduction in external grills, scoops, etc. would also help).  For second generation, something along the lines of the YF-23's inlets turned on their side or the F-35's inlets.

The biggest problem is where the tail surfaces meet the fuselage, those square corners are real radar reflectors.

Well, you're right that photos can hide a lot of flaws (my own stuff looks way better on the PC than it does in person) but your TSR sure looks fine on my screen right now.

Still, it would be funny for you to enter it in a model contest somewhere with the usual "comments" form filled in with all your comments above (instead of the usual dry summary of what kit, scheme, blab-blab-blab they usually show).
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Hmm, a stealthy version of the TSR.2....

Maybe this can be an inspiration:
