Really, I see the USAF plaing "Frankenstein" and modding the plane and weapons bay a bit (elongating it, rearranging internal components with modern, smaller components, etc).

Hmm, I might could see the fuselage getting extended by one section frame to lengthen the weapons bay as well as replacing the front and back frames (due to the canted rotary launcher);  that'd be comparatively easy to get bought off. You couldn't just move either of the existing frames that define the weapons bay because they'd need replacing due to tailoring for the loads of that rotary launcher.
