I've often thought how old-fashioned the Buckingham/Buckmaster (and to a slightly lesser extent the Brigand) airframes looked - taildraggers, that's why.  A tricycle u/c Brigand would have looked so much more mid-1940s to my eye.

Odd, considering the Beau was a tail-dragger, too.

"Then what are you looking in the cellar for?"

Having had cause to go looking in the loft - I wanted the Magna Buckingham up there*, plus a torpedo and attachments from the Beaufighter spares box, as well as checking how few Wyverns are tucked away up there (not enough Novo ones, sadly) - I had a look through the various Valom Brigands, Buckmaster and Buckinghams up there.  And I found several sets of Aeroclub P122 - Brigand props!  That's saved me having to clean up Magna's vile white metal.

*I don't know why really, given that the Magna Brigand is bad enough.  Do I really want to subject myself to that same vile undercarriage?

But the Beau was late 30s/early 40s so was of its time.

IIRC the Albemarle was the only British production piston-engined tricycle undercarriage aircraft of the war years, compare that to the number of production US tricycle u/c types during the same period.

Not done much with this, but I did take a brave pill to tackle Magna's god awful canopy.  As is typical with Magna, its going yellow, but there are no chance of replacements and no other canopy will fit.  I have tried.

You cannot view this attachment.

Just a loose fit for now and it's a bit...vague.  Typical Magna really.

Like the Buccaneer, I need to paint the coaming cockpit green before I can get the canopy, then start masking to get some paint on.
