And so it's over...
Captured Special Forces TIE Fighter is ready. It's a Revell kit, unfortunately a snap-kit, pre-painted, which proved to be problematic.
I wasn't enthusiastic while looking at the box, but I was quite happy with this model. Overall, I'm still happy, but a few issues arose. Fuselage halves wouldn't come together, requiring a vise. The "wings" had a similar problem.
Revell included a very neat base, but its installation forced them to abandon bottom turret that this version of the TIE had. Using some leftovers from a WH40K model, I built something resembling what I saw in the schematics and in a Hasbro toy. Another problem is the plastic—the paint doesn't stick. I rarely use primer on my models - I paint with AK-Interactive Real Color paints where primer isn't necessary, as they are quite durable. Here they came off when I was wiping wash. Okay, okay, I'm grumbling? I finished the model in Rebel Alliance colors—they must have captured one of this TIEs at some point. I planned to add the name "Hex-wing," and I might do that, but only after the final base will be ready.

It's painted with AK Interactive Real Color paints. The streaking is done with AMMO chemicals and Kuretake markers. Chipping was done using "hairspray" method. The cannon tips are made of crystals for beadwork.

No crew?   That's a pity! Would look better with a pilot & gunner.  ;)

Well done, Wacek! Really looks the part!

(And any differences to an Imperial TIE fighter can be put down to having to be repaired by the Alliance without access to Imperial logistics.  ;D )
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

The original cockpit looks cramped enough with just the pilot - squeezing a gunner in there, too?...

Nice job.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

have to say, that's really well done! Love the execution of the paint work - very rebel like in its appearance :)

Beautiful work, the TIE looks right proper in those colours! For the Alliance!

That looks great. I particularly like the weathering.
