It's a good 'un!  In the early 1980's I tried to monopolize a college common room tv to watch it, but there was a conflict with a soap opera wedding.  I was outnumbered and it took another 5 or six years to watch it.

Absolutely, one of the BEST aviation related films ever! 

The two best bits?

1) When Dutch Holland (James Stewart) comes back from a 'short training flight' ( 24 hrs long) in a B-36 to find his wife (June Allyson) still asleep in their car parked by the ramp.

2) When his General (only loosely based on Curtis LeMay....) lights up a cigarette on leaving a KC-97 and the ground crew corporal suggests to Dutch that he shouldn't be smoking near the aircraft as it might catch fire. Dutch responds 'It wouldn't DARE!'

A true classic, but I would not question anyone fast forwarding through the wife scenes....(as a teenager I got a ride up the hill from June Allyson! a great woman, but a bit needy in the movie)) 

The air-to-air video and the interior scenes of the B-36 and B-47 are superb.  I can almost feel the B-36 throb.  A must see.

Nope. Short back & sides between 1981 & 1993(ish) for various reasons.

Then grew a mullet for a few years.
