And with the Scout's/Wasp's well known lack of reasonable payload, that'd probably be ALL that it could carry!  :o

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Yes, the Royal National Lifeboat Institute will be gifted a Westland Scout, resplendant in those colours!
Inflatable floats will be added, like used on the Bell 47. It will keep the military arrangement of the pilot

As stated in my blog post, YOU HAVE MY ENDURING ADMIRATION!

It'll pair well with some of the heavies I did for the Blue Lights GB: https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?msg=916803

From Wikipedia:
Empty weight: 3,232 lb (1,466 kg)
Max takeoff weight: 5,300 lb (2,404 kg)

So that's over a ton, not bad.

Well, this is another that has got me on the ropes. The kit is not going together well, probably due to my modeling skills. And it's also on the small side of tiny, a subject like this would be much better served in 1/48th, minimum. Saw the LF kit at Telford, but it's also 1/72nd.

But, there is another plan. New thread starting momentarily...  <_<

There is, or was, a 1/48th Wasp kit, done by Fujimi. I may even have one in The Loft.

It's got to be easier to convert a Wasp to a Scout than it would to do the opposite. I did the latter many years ago in 1/72, but I still have it, minus its main rotor.

Thanks for that hint, I looked and found one on ebay! Might go for it.

Wouldn't really matter in my universe, in fact the Wasp would be probably better becuase I presume it would be set up to deal with naval conditions, and since mine would be used by the R.N.L.I., that would work fine.

When they say empty, what exactly does that mean?  Fuelled, crewed and ready to fly?  Completely drained of all fluids with no-one in it?  Or something in between?
Is there even a standard definition.  This is after all from wikipaedia...

IIRC that weight is completely empty. If a Wasp carried two torpedoes they had to be flown alone. An extra crew member would overload it.

The maximum ordnance payload of the Wasp was 540lbs: Two Mk.44 or one Mk.46 homing torpedoes or two depth charges on crutches or two Nord AS.12 missiles on the fuselage sides. Which is over a quarter of the MTOW. It's also unlikely that the Wasps were regularly operated at their maximum weight.
