Hi all

I've finally got my mojo together to attempt this one, it's been one of those kits where you screw up the courage to build it, get the bits out of the box, read the instructions, look at the amount of bracing, harrumph a bit and loose your bottle. Everything goes back into the box and the box goes back into the stash cupboard.

This time it is different, when stringing the Franken Biplane I realised that my eyes are not what they were. With bright lights, a desk lamp, my reading glasses and clip-on times two magnifiers I could bump along just fine but this is at the edge of my vision for tiny things, there will come a time when this would not be possible.

So the gloves were off, the nettle was grabbed, the mojo was pumped and I was off a journey into the semi-unknown!

OK it's more Real World than  Whiff but the fuel tanks are probably the wrong colour, I think the copper looks good, and the ailerons should droop when the aircraft is at rest and ive modeled them up. Its certainly enough to upset a JMN so I'm claiming a very mild whiff here  :o

Here's the pics........

For a really old kit this one went together extremely well, I made a lot of work for myself by doing all the rigging but I am extremely proud of how it came out.

I have an Avro Biplane from the same manufacturer who's fate was in the balance but after building the  Boxkite it's future is safe and it will get built.

The build thread is here if anybody is interested :- https://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=11488.0

As always,  all comments and criticisms gratefully accepted

That's the old Inpact kit, isn't it?

There was a whole range of those 'Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines' kits and they were superbly done too. I built most of them for my mate Derek's model shop in Oxford when they first came out, sans rigging as we figured it would never last in the window display, but the kits still sold like hoy cakes!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks for the comments guys

Kit :-  Yes it is the Inpact kit as is the Avro Biplane that is safe.

Being a glutton for punishment I may look for more in thus range, the Avro Triplane looks equally challenging

Wow, that is amazing, hats off to you for building such an intricate kit.

I think the Dermoiselle was the most difficult one when I built them, it's SO tiny, even in 1/48, that just getting at some of the parts is almost impossible.  :-\

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

That's a serious piece of work there.  Very well done 👍
