In 1984 the FAA were interested in replacing the A-4B/C fleet with the AMX International as the IA-68.
This was blocked by the UK due to the Rolls Royce engine used in the AMX.

One of the principle lines of enquiry for AMX upgrades over the years was a new engine, usually American. It never happened, primarily, IIRC, because no export customer who wanted it could afford enough airframes to justify the development work. In Whiff World however, that might be a route by which Argentina could acquire them despite British objections. They'd probably be Brazilian-style airframes with 2 x 30mm DEFAs instead of the M61 Vulcan, since the US has/had(?) a blanket ban on exporting the Vulcan to South America.

Yep sounds good to me.

Venezuela also wanted AMX but cancelled the order.

The IA-68 was a development with different nose and intakes.

Just been told that Italy offered the license to Argentina initially but it was picked up by Brazil.
