I'm pretty certain I've read that the Eurofighter consortium has dusted off the design with a view to developing an unmanned version by simply replacing the manned cockpit area with the necessary Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle technical gubbins.  😉

I cannot stress enough the incredible level of awesome this is. Love the story and the build. 

I remember seeing in AW&ST and Air Combat magazines back in the early 80's some of the different proposals around that idea. Always seemed pretty cool concept. The one I always remembered was a proposal for the Piper Enforcer for the anti-helo role.
