Have fun.
Don't worry about all that flash and moulding blobs....a knife and sanding sticks removes the lot.
And a quick run over with liquid cement will cure the fuselage split.
After you've cleaned it up nicely, the filler can solve most of the awkward bits, but if you've some nice thin plastic card, you can always add some detail via new patches, panels, etc..
Aerials...lots of 'em will add interest.

I'm looking forward to this!!

I've got a 1/48th kit, but this beauty sounds terrific.

When you get the fuselage halves together put a strip of styrene stock along the join before attaching the wings to the fuselage. Run it continuously from the vertical stabilizer to just behing the navigator's cockpit. That is a particularly weak join and very easy to split if you don't reinforce it somehow.

As for the Exocet. I believe the Super Etendards from both Heller and Academy have Exocets in them.

I suspect you could fit 2 Exocets under a Mirage IV. Put an Exocet under Each wing and make some sort of Avionics/Fuel bulge to cover the missile recess on the center line. The front half of the bulge could be the specialized Exocet avionics package and the back half could be fuel.

Just as the Super Etendard has its gun package removed and replaced with the mission specific avionics package when it carries an Exocet, I'd be inclined to represent that aspect of the missile as an add on to the airframe.

Heller SE has Exocets (one).
And yes, Heller Mirage IVA is not very accurate... I think they had the nose shape wrong (in every case, it looks wrong on the kit).

Main problem is the oval hole for the AN-52... fill it with putty (or the AN-52 itself, but without the tips) and hang one of the two 2000 L drop tanks...
Or better, two drop tanks and one exocet on the centerline

Think I'll love this build   (and the Falkland GB in general.. it promise so much!!!!!)

Why not go for the big mutha? Something along the lines of the Swedish Rb04/Rb15F?

If you need Exocets, let me know.  I have several pairs of them from the 1/72nd scale Italeri NATO Weapons Set.  Would be happy to swap a few of them for your nuke.

Well I didnt mean Specificly the Rb04, but something along those lines. There's just something about a friggin life boat-sized missile with big azz wings that screams " I AM THE GREATEST! "

Whoops, got a bit excided there

QuoteOh, and I've changed my mind on the cockpit as I now plan to detail the kit and do it with canopies open! Man, am I a sucker for punishment!
Brave man!  ;)

QuoteNo further progress today, I'm having a lazy loaf at home today!  :)

But the ideas are flowing, I am even inspired to consider a future IVA project were the IVA gets turned into a stand off jammer just like the EF-111A Raven.

Or a wild weasel IVA!  :o

So many ideas, so little time. I keep them all in an ever expanding Excel spreadsheet.

As for this one, Exocets are in the bag - thanks jeffryfontaine!
I am sourcing up decals, though I must say what I can find on Hannants site is rather disappointing! I also plan to add a couple of heat seekers for self defense.

O.K.
Funny you mention a stand off jammer Mirage IV... the AdA had plans for that twice!
First, in 1959 : some Mirage IV were to be used on the role.
Then, in 1969 was the RAGEL program (Reconnaissance, attaque, Guerre electronique lointaine = Recon, strike, ECM, at long range).

A Mirage IV loaded with Martels or Armats would be cool... big fairing over the tail, bumps everywhere... I love this idea!!!!

No Need for a lump on the tail the Mirage IV would be able to carry the sensorsand emiters in Belly area vacated by the AS-52 or the radar fitted fwd of the bomb recess.  The US put them on the tails as no where else to put them on the Intruder or F-111 as little in the way of internal space or ground clearance..

Pas con! Something along the lines of the CT-52 recon pack...

Stiff upper lip old son, you can do it!  I've had a few of these kits that I've nearly pitched at the wall in frustration (usually Airfix) but theres often a satisfaction (or relief!) when you've finished them.  I want to see this kit finished anyways!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yes a very brave man, so how are you going to incorporate the huge rubber band needed to hold the banana like fuselage halves together? And good luck getting all ten wheels to sit on the ground at the same time.
