I believe X3, Med. Sea Grey, is correct for the current scheme.

These are RAF/RN:

X3 med. sea
X4 dk. sea
X6 RAF ocean
X15 RAF light a/c
X126 dk. blue/grey

These are USAF:

X136 light compass
X140 light grey-Vietnam

This is USN/USMC (hence the name):

X137 USN light gull (aka RAF Light Aircraft Grey)

This is modern Luftwaffe:

X255 silbergrau  (which is in fact grey, not metallic silver)

Cap, Urban Fredericksson's Colour charts on the IPMS Stockholm website are very useful.  Chart I lists by countries colour schemes, chart II lists by paint manufacturer.  Chart I you'll find particularly helpful, click on the country you want, it then splits into eras & each colour is given an equivalent (if it has one) by FS number & in the Humbrol, Tamiya, Pollyscale, Xtracolour, Gunze Sanyo & Model Master ranges.  You can even click on the FS number & it gives you an on screen colour swatch so you can at least narrow things down.  Doesn't split down into aircraft though, you'll need to find your own references for that.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Captain Canada

I put the first coat on her this morning....and that X3 is just right ! Thanks for the advice, guys !

N O !.... not dayglo red, just plain old RAF Post Office Red BS538/X031..... You have to trust me on this, I work (from time to time) with these things.
