I hope they re-release the TSR-2. They'd make a fortune with that one. [Might get one now !] :tornado:

Hi All,
I have always said that if Hornby wanted a quick input of cash from their purchase of Airfix,  a limited publisized release of a few thou Tsr 2`s weould do the trick :D

Don't forget Hornby will make kits of whatever will sell - and if they see Doctor Who as a better bet than aircraft, that is what they will go for.

Hornby are in it to make a profit, not to satisfy geriatric modellers odd whims.
Life's too short to apply all the stencils

I think Airfix would do quite well if they made more car kits to compete with Revell. They wouldn't have to be the racecars and bikes but some regular family vehicles 'like Mum drives' etc.
Biggest catch would be getting approval for the licensing deals though.

That said, they could do a lot with cleaning up some of the old moulds and re-releasing the better parts of the back catalogue.

This is the thing to remember, we get all nostalgic about planes, tanks etc. because that was what sold well when we were kids.  It was at this time the 'enthusiasts' complained about the proliferation of plastic kits & the lack of solid kits.  We'll all grow too old to bother at some stage so Hornby need to prepare for a solid base on which to sell their kits.  It may be that in twenty to thirty years time when young modelers pick the hobby up again that it's the movie/TV kits that they flock to.  What's wrong with that?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A very interesting progam, but it did show that Airfix need new leadership. The definition of corporate insanity is to do the same things over and over again expecting different results each time. There are lots of licensed properties out there that could make money for them Why can't I buy an Airfix kit of Master Chief?

Very true - but how do the likes of Dragon and Eduard make their money?  By selling high quality kits to the top right corner of the market.  Dragon have been doing it for years with their Panzers, and Eduard just go from strength to strength.

Clearly there *is* a market for top quality kits, and a profitable one too.  I see no reason why Airfix can't satisfy the "kid walking into the shop with his pocket money" market AND the "but the best and latest kits online from Hannants/HLJ/HobbyLobby etc
