There's actually a ton of Whiffs on Modelwarships, including strike cruisers, FACES II Iowas, etc. etc.  This was just a pretty recent one that grabbed my attention.  :)

The USS Tinian was quite a project. Rusty spent months on it, and did a lot of research to get it "right". Someday I'm going to take my old Revell 1/350 and do another one of the Phase 2 proposals - one that had a catapult and landing gear to operate CTOL aircraft!

I admit I'd like to see a more integrated "hull-up" design - perhaps starting with a CVN hull, and instead of a full flight deck putting a proper battleship bow end on.  You could use all that funnel space for Mk. 41 VLS cells, as well as hangar and troop space.  Add JSFs and V-22s...perhaps a future BBGVN, "USS Lewis B. Puller" concept, circa 2020 or so.

If anyone's interested, I could put together some art for the concept...
