There's one other thing I found on ACIG: the Mullahs still have a distrust of the Iranian AF. The mullahs are afraid that if they build up the Iranian AF and Army, that the regular military will decide to use their shiny new toys not in Iraq or the Gulf, but against the mullahs and the RevGuard.
Why do you think all the new stuff is in the Guard's hands?

Did I miss anything here?

(I was always under the impression of Phantoms and Tomcats vs F-7M when any comparison between the regular military and the guards is mentioned...... but then again, I might not be very informed......)
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

To-do list here

The F-7Ms were turned over to the Iranian AF when the RevGuard wasn't able to either properly maintain them, or get people qualified for fast jets. The RevGuard does have Su-25s for CAS, but any good F-4, F-5, F-14, or MiG-29 driver should be able to handle Frogfoots if need be. The regular military knows that if there's a confrontation with the U.S., Israel, Gulf States, and other interested parties, they lose. The RevGuard and mullahs think they're on a mission from Allah, and don't care about what happens if they do pick a fight, and wind up on the losing end.

Word on that, they would have their fingures on any 'unconventional' arms.

The Iranian Theater Ballistic Missile Force is actually divided between the Air Force and the RevGuard. But their nuclear R&D facilities are under RevGuard control and protection (ground forces and SAM/AAA defense). Whether or not deterrence can work with a nutcase like Ahmedijad or the zealots in the RevGuard and the mullahs, is another matter. Just make it plain that either firing a nuke on a missile or passing one to terrorists, will have consequences that will be.....severe.

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Agreed.

Getting back on target here, I've got the old revell (not the Zvezda repop) MiG-31 kit and I'm thinking about giving it the beagle treatment with CFTs added and provision for more stores.

Hmm, tying into another thread, I wonder how a MiG-31 would in Raspberry Ripple?

Perhaps we could also see them in USAF and USN Test Pilot School markings?
