Just wondering what software/websites people use for hosting their pictures?

How do you upload those to be seen on this forum site?

What file sizes are best to keep download times short and sweet?

I've got a lot of pics which I want people to see but no idea where to start etc.

You can upload pics directly to the 'picture post' forum, if they're smaller than 75 kb. That's a good size to limit download time, but it does mean pics have to be small. If you create a post in that forum, you'll see a box where you can browse to a file.

Most internet providers give you some space where you can put a website. I use that for most of the images I post here. Uploading is then done with an FTP client program (or with an HTML editor that has FTP capability built in).

You can also use services like Photobucket, Flickr etc. They provide upload tools on their site.

OK, I've opened a Photobucket account. I will upload my pics tonight. What size should I use so they look good on here?

1024x768 is the default option but does it matter?
Can I set up an online album for you all to drop in and look at?

You can upload 'em to photobucket and if they are to big they automatically resize 'em to whetever their max. is. Works for me !

If you use photobucket, don't worry about size of your picture here.
Look below "IMG CODE" , and copy it here

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

What Arch said ;), I really like it that PB gives the source code for HTML, forums like ours, and the format for myspace as well.

I use www.villagephotos.com  For $9.95 every six months I get gb's of storage space (up to 800 images at up to 3mb each) with no bandwidth limit.  It doesn't appear to be quite as sophisticated as Photobucket, but then I don't have trouble with it as many people seem to with Photobucket.  It just plain works.  You can get a free account, but file size is limited to 250kb (pretty small for an image).
