Seen a couple pics that other museums use the same idea.

Our club was approached a few years ago to create models of every plane they had so they could use them to rearrange them as they added new buildings.  More kits were available in 72nd scale but that would have made the layout too big for the museum so 1/144th scale was picked.

Our club VP (then Pres and also a docent at the Museum) Pat Gilmore enlisted the aid of several club members and then went on a search for 1/144th scale aircraft souring ebay , local hobby shops and finding some garage kit makers off the internet.  Some kits could not be found and we ended up making "flat" planes like the little wooden gliders we played with when we were younger.  Some of these have since been replaced as we have found a kit or someone scratchbuilt one.

The Museum has added another building since we started the project and are seeking funds for an even larger building to hold some of the larger birds.  Pat took measurements of the existing building and built them out of sheet plastic.  These are also used to show off to the Generals and Committee members when they visit.

The planes outside the buildings that are not painted are ones the museum would like to acquire.  The OV-10 Bronco has since been added to the inventory and the P-47D is also on display.

We just contributed all the missiles they have for the upcoming Missile Park.

More pics of the models.

P.S. I really like that 1/144 scale Jenny. I'd love to see better pics of it.

They look so good/realistic that you don't realize how small they really are until one of your website pics that shows a bottle of CA glue nearby for a real sense of scale.

Very cool method to size out the new buildings and rotating layouts.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

BDB,
The Jenny was scratchbuilt by one of our members.
