In the dark days of WWII as the Geman army swarms over the continent, Britan prepares for a Desperate stand against the german Juggernaut.Short on equipment after the fall of France and the Corageous rescue at Dunkirque, some relief comes from a rather unexpected source Germany's nuteral ally Spain! The Spanish government short on fuel supplies offers to trade 60 Messerschmit 109's plus some spare parts for 1,000 drums of gasoline per aircraft. After negotiating with the United States to transfer the fuel to Spain, (The two counteries being neutral easily done) the Spanish send the aircraft to england covertly by "Bannana Boat's" flying Portugese flags. The RAF after recieving the aircraft and parts quickly reailise that there are far too few engine parts to keep the aircraft flying long quickly replace them with their own Rolls Royce Merlin (also relieving a potential repair headache for the RAF mechanics) The aircraft Officialy on the books as the Messerschmit Mk.1 is quickly given the nickname MesserSpit, and is issued to Reserve and Free Polish and Czech units along with Hawker Hurricanes. The polish Mixed Squadrons come up with an ingenious tactic of painting the undersides of their MesserSpits in Rlm Leichtblau and the uppers in standard RAF colors with RAF Roundelles overall. Then mixed flights of MesserSpits and Hurricanes would intercept in a High Low manuver, with Hurricanes hitting low and Messerspits coming from above. This tactic often surprised german aircrews into believing that the Poles were friendly reinforcements, only to find out that the planes were actually Vengeful Poles or Czechs.Due to the ambush tactics used and the small numbers in service,Very few MesserSpits were lost in action. However once the United States entered the war and flooded England with Materiel the MesserSpit was relegated to Training squadrons where the instructors often flew them in training to show new pilots some of the flying charachteristics of the German aircraft

The kit I'll be using for this one is the Academy 1/48 Ha.1112 "Buchon" I hope to have WIP pics soon

Panzer,

Sweet concept, I've always thought the Buchon was the prettiest 109 either way.

Looking fwd to this one, might have 2 knock up a profile if i can find a Buchon

Radish

Bonkers....just lovely bonkers.

I've a Buchon or two.
At least one will be late-war Luftwaffe to try and confuse some people.

Clever idea Panzer!  I'd love to see a second one with a Vokes filter.

Have you seen the Fusion & LF models conversion set for a DB605 powered Spitfire?  A real world splice, the Germans took a captured Spit Vb & popped a Daimler Benz engine in to evaluate the peformance.  It actually turned out to be marginally better than both the Spitfire and the '109!  I've seen at least one of these whiffed into an Israeli marked aircraft.

The Fusion conversion is available in the US, I'm not sure if the LF one is:

I think you've got to do it's opposite number ar some stage! :D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

this is one of the profiles I have of the Buchon

And one of the captured Spit with the german engine

I would love to try a Mosquito with german engines. as it is i will probably need to do some surgery on the Buchon's wings as I believe the earlier 109's had the clipped rather than rounded wingtips and I'm sure the RAF would have rearmed the aircraft with weapons of their own manufacture ANY ideas are welcome ;) I may go with the 8 browning .303's or leave the cannons and say they replaced the German cannon with Hispano Souisa cannon like those used in the Hurricane IIC

<Edit> OK lets try that again :dum:  :dum:  :dum:

There was a nice article about the DB Spitfire some years ago in Le Fana.
Aparently a free french pilot and its Spitfire V get lost during a low-level straffing mission. The pilot was captured and its aircraft send to Germany. And they tried to re- engine it with a DB... aparently there was some cooling problem (no way of having a correct cooling system for the DB) and this limited performances (after 490 KPH oil started to boil or something like that).

Tell me if you need pics...  ;)

Brilliant backstory !
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

That's one smokin' concept and great backstory, Panzer! I'm really looking forward to seeing your MesserSpit!

Just at a glance, I'd say that since the used, as I've read elsewhere, a Bf110 cowling to match the contours at the Spitfire's firewall, they didn't have the oil cooler under the engine as on the Bf109.  If they didn't plumb properly to the Spitfire's oil cooler, that could definitely be a problem.

Interesting.  As a slight twist to the story you could have the Buchons being formed into an aggressor style RAF squadron for training pilots.
