Awesome!

All of them. Loved that French twin DO-335 thing.

Gary

I noticed that someone did a Heinkle. I had done mine in the beginning thinking of the Schnieder 49 but ended up using her for the South American contest

Getting back into modeling

Holy thread revival Batman!
My modeling club is doing the same thing 'cept it's Schnieder '48 and I'm trying to come up with a coupla ideas

Thought about a YAK 17  then I saw that the Seattle guys did that.

Ryan Fireball or Dark Shark in Ryan factory markings.

any other ideas?

oh yeah anybody got any 1/72 floats they don't want?

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

That was one of the most exciting group builds I've ever participated in. There were well over 70 entries at the show, and some that never made it. Race numbers were assigned by the coordinator of the event and the subject had to be based on the technology of the time. The most modern aircraft that entered the race was an F-86A with a centerline main float. One modeler, Mike Millette, built 11 models for the race! It even drew entries from modelers that would never even think about building a what-if. I think one of the more intriguing aspects of Schneider '49 was that every entry had a terrific backstory to their entry. And one of the local hobby shops, Skyway Model, seemed to have a run on any 72nd scale kit with floats.
By the way, here was 1 of the 2 entries I built:

Race #17. Built from an A6M2-N Rufe found in the Aleutians by my dad and some of his war buddies. Fitted with a Griffon engine supplied by Boeing (who actually sponsored the effort - note the Boeing logo). "Miss Evergreen" did not place in the event.

There is a plan afoot to enter the Schneider '49 racers as a group build at the IPMS USA nats in Anaheim in '07.
