One of the many twin and single-engined jet designs considered by Bell - for my money, they should have gone with this one!

It's not an effing  jump jet.

Hey guys, on the subject of the P-59, hows this grab ya?

Brace yourselves.

"An upcoming star and one of the rarest restorations ever attempted is the Bell YP-59A Airacomet, which finally saw the mating of fuselage and wings on May 4.  The airplane was rolled out to the flight line with a canvas covered "propeller" stuck on the nose like the first XP-59A wore in 1942.  This restoration has been going on now for close to ten years, with all-volunteer labor, and looks to be completed in about 18 months.  General Electric completely overhauled the two I-16 turbojets, and the airplane will fly with original power-plants.  When it does, it will join the Northrop N-9M as the two rarest flyable restorations ever accomplished."

Okay, who else is absurdly excited about this?

Count me in!  I think the Airacomet to be one of America's unheralded pioneers!  It'd be sweet to see the thing in flight - and as Chino is but a mere two hours drive east for me, I think I'll be doing that soon!
